If you've searched "BJJ Oviedo," "jiu jitsu Oviedo FL," "brazilian jiu jitsu near Oviedo," or "martial arts near Oviedo FL," this is the academy at the west end of that route — a full Gracie Barra school running kids and adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, No-Gi BJJ, and an Open Mat that welcomes visitors.
One Family, Two Sides of the County
Gracie Barra Seminole is proudly part of the Gracie Barra family — the world's most respected Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu organization — and that family connection shows up in our own coaching staff. Coach Keith Gumbs began his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey in 2016 at Gracie Barra Oviedo, training under Professors Todd Broadway and Steven Silva, and helped coach the kids classes there from white belt through blue belt. In 2023, he moved to Gracie Barra Seminole, where he now trains under Professor Rodrigo Costa and has earned his brown belt. Same organization, same curriculum family — taught today by a coach who has trained on both sides of Seminole County. Meet Keith and the rest of the team on our instructors page.
Programs for Oviedo Families
For kids, Little Champions (ages 4–6, Gi) trains Tuesday and Thursday, 5:00–6:00 PM, and Juniors (ages 7–13, Gi) trains Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 5:00–6:00 PM. Our adult classes offer two paths in Gi: GB1 Fundamentals for anyone starting from zero, and GB2 Advanced for students ready to push further. No-Gi BJJ classes for both GB1 and GB2 run throughout the week for anyone who'd rather train without the kimono, and Private Classes (one-on-one or up to four students, Monday–Saturday) are available too. Every Sunday, 12:00–2:00 PM, Open Mat is open to members and non-members alike — a genuine way for an Oviedo visitor to walk in, roll or just watch, and get a feel for the room before committing to anything.
